PRAYER:

A
JOURNEY OF FAITH
Contemplative Prayer, or meditation as it is more
commonly known, is at the heart of Carmelite life. This prayer entails
an interior journey, with times of solitude and silence either in the
chapel, our rooms or while working around the house. It demands honesty
about our own weakness and dependence on God, and a constant striving for self
knowledge and healing. To assist us in this we put aside two hours daily
for meditation.
Reading, reflection and study,
especially on Scriptures, are all part of our Prayer Life
We also come together for Eucharist and unite with the whole Church daily in
the "Divine Office"- praying the psalms and readings from scripture
at regular intervals during the day.
Besides our individual reading and reflection, we also reflect and pray
together sharing our faith, our prayer and our insights.
Carmel is called to give to the Church and the World a service of prayer,
inspired by love. To animate us in this we try to keep ourselves informed
about current situations and the needs and aspirations of our brothers and
sisters throughout the world. We also respond to requests for prayers from
individuals and groups.
Through fidelity to our calling we hope to be:
- Silent witnesses to the compassionate love of God,
- like Mary, standing at the foot of the Cross,
sharing in the agonies of our world.
- Communicators with God on behalf of others.
- Love at the heart of the Church - praying for those
engaged in active ministry and especially for priests
